CGPH-Pakistan had won the grant under Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) Special Grant for Covid-19 Research for assessment of burnout levels through a research study titled “Burnout level and Coping Strategies of Health Care Providers during COVID-19 Pandemic: A Cross Sectional Study in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Pakistan”. This study was conducted in two public sector health facilities and two private sector hospitals having CONVID-19 units in ICT. Study was conducted to assess burnout levels during COVID -19 among healthcare providers using the Maslach Tool. It explored the various coping strategies that were used to mitigate the psychological impacts during COVID -19. The results of this study suggested various coping strategies that have worked among health care provider and implementers as effective mechanisms to fight against the burnout level of COVID-19 Pandemic.
It was a mix-method cross sectional study in which face to face interviews were conducted with health Care Providers (HCPs) from ERs, COVID-19 centers, and medical wards, including doctors, nurses, paramedics; lab technicians, support staff and administrative who worked directly or indirectly with COVID-19 patients as part of the quantitative approach. Qualitative assessment dig down into understanding the experiences of coping strategies to mitigate the psychological impacts of COVID-19 pandemic through in-depth interview and focus group discussions.
